Being the key financial and capital market in Asia, Hong Kong is a popular IPO destination in the region. Hong Kong was Asia Pacific’s largest IPO centre for biotech companies and the second largest in the world after the US. As of April 2022, 92 healthcare and biotech companies have been listed in Hong Kong, raising HK$257 billion through IPOs.

Hong Kong’s medical and healthcare industry can be divided into two major categories: the medical & healthcare equipment and devices sector and the biotechnology, medical & healthcare services sector. In this webinar, Canadian companies in the healthcare industry, including healthcare equipment manufacturers and exporters, are invited to register for this free webinar to hear:

Sandra Wu

Sandra Wu joined the Hong Kong Canada Business Association as Board Director in 2017. She has 24 years of working experience in multi-sectors with a senior management role, including Chief Administrative Officer and Executive Director of the Department of Medicine at The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa. She has managed large teams with a diverse professional background such as digital health, artificial intelligence, knowledge translation, business development, and R&D. She has also worked in disaster management and emergency response. This experience enables her to be agile and responsive to change in challenging times. She has been recognized for demonstrating leadership, fostering inspiration, and building relationships. Having worked in a global market, she understands the importance of ‘Human-Centred Design’ to deliver high-quality services and client experience. Sandra holds an MBA, a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, and a Lean Greenbelt in healthcare. She recently finished executive education with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) research university.

Emily Mo
Director, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto)

Emily joined the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China in 2001 as a member of the Administrative Officer Grade.  In December 2018, she took up the Director post in the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Toronto, the mandate of which is to foster closer economic trade ties between Canada and Hong Kong, and also promote bilateral cultural relations and people-to-people ties.  Before that she had worked in different offices, including the Home Affairs Department, the then Environment, Transport and Works Bureau, the Security Bureau, the University Grants Committee Secretariat and the Tourism Commission of the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau.  Before coming to Toronto, Emily served as the Deputy Head of the Human Resources Planning and Poverty Co-ordination Unit under the Chief Secretary for Administration’s Private Office to support the Chief Secretary for Administration for monitoring the implementation progress of policy initiatives on human resources planning and poverty alleviation in Hong Kong.  Emily received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hong Kong.

Janet MacPhee
Vice-Consul & Trade Commissioner, Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong & Macao

Janet joined the Canadian Foreign Service in 2005 and has worked as a Trade Commissioner in Ottawa on several files including: Federal-Provincial-Territorial Relations; International
Financing; Science Technology and Innovation (managing Canada’s bilateral Science treaties with Brazil and China); and Foreign Direct Investment. Janet was previously posted as a Trade Policy Officer in Brasilia and has international experience in Italy, Ethiopia, India and the United States.
Her educational focus was in Psychology, Sociology and International Development Studies. In Hong Kong Janet’s team is responsible for Education; Life Sciences; and Science, Technology and Innovation.
